kan4 tian1 qi4 de5 lian3 se4, huan2 shi4 ti3 wen1
Depend on face color of the weather or body temperature?

xing4 fu2 bu2 hui4 shi4 niu2 dun4, yi4 ke1 ping2 guo3 cheng2 xue2 wen4
Happiness can’t be Newton who turned one apple into the learning

suo3 yi3, de2 bu2 dao4 na4 ge5 ren2 shi4 fou3 gai1 hen4
So, when you can’t get that person, should you hate?

Your present life, what do you want?

chu1 men1 yao4 hao2 hua2 che1, huo4 sui2 yuan2 fen4
When you go out you want a luxury car or just take whatever destiny arranges for you?

xing4 fu2 huo4 xu3 shi4 zhu1 ge3, san1 gu4 ye3 bu2 jian4 de5 cheng2
Happiness perhaps is zhu1 ge3, but, even you paid three time of visits, probably you were not able to achieve it.

suo3 yi3, da2 bu2 dao4 ni3 yao4 de5 shi4 fou3 gai1 reng1
So, those you can’t reach, should you throw them out?

you4 huo4 zhe3 yong3 yuan3 shi4 bu4 ke3 neng2 man3 fen1
Or, perhaps forever won’t be able to get the full points (reach perfection)

You say why
You say why ai4 rang4 ji2 mo4 xiang4 yong3 heng2
You say why love let loneliness look like eternal

And why
And why ai4 xiang4 guo4 ke4 bu4 wen2 bu2 wen4
And why love is like the passenger who never hears and never asks

Oh why
Oh why ai4 si4 hu1 zong3 bu4 tie1 jin4 ling2 hun2
Oh, why love never seems close to my soul

hui2 yi4 li3 de5 qi4 fen4, shi4 re4 shi4 leng3
Is the atmosphere in the memories hot or cold?

gu1 fang1 de5 xiang4 tian1 e2, huan2 shi4 feng1 zheng1
The aloof beauty is like a swan or a kite

huo4 xu3 jiu4 xiang4 ge1 lun2 bu4, cuo4 wu4 dian3 qi3 wan3 zhan3 deng1
Perhaps, it is like Columbus, the mistake lighted up ten thousand lights (discovered the new continent)

suo3 yi3, shi4 bu2 shi4 huan2 xiang3 yao4 zai4 shi4 zai4 cheng1
So, would you still want to try and hang on to it?

you4 huo4 zhe5, yin1 wei4 zeng2 you3 de5 teng2 chen2 lun2
Or perhaps, because of heartaches for the past sinking (memory)

You say why
You say why ai4 ran4 ji2 mo4 xiang4 yong3 heng2
You say why love let loneliness look like eternal?

And why
And why ai4 xiang4 guo4 ke4 bu4 wen2 bu2 wen4
And why love is like passengers never hear and never ask?

Oh why
Oh why ai4 si4 hu1 zong3 bu4 tie1 jin4 ling2 hun2
Oh why love never seems close to the soul?

zen3 me5 nen2, zen3 me5 neng2
How come, how come

xiang1 ju4, fen1 li2, guang1 ying3 liang2 le5 you4 wen1
United and departed, the sunlight and the shadow cool and then warm up again?

xiang3 qi3 wang4 ji4, yan3 lei4 qian3 le5 you4 shen1
You recalled but then forgot, and the marks of tears shallowed and then deepened

fan2 mei3 li4 zong3 xiang4 shi4 liu2 shui3 shi4 qu4, bu2 hui4 zhuan3 guo4 shen1
Those that are beautiful always like the flowing water which will be gone and will never turn around

yu3 shui3 que4 zai4 bu4 zhi1 ming2 de5 qing1 chen2 fen1 fen1
But the rains came pouring down on an unknown dawn again

You say why Oh
You say why Oh ji2 mo4 xiang4 yong3 heng2
You say why oh loneliness is like eternity

And why
And why xiang4 guo4 ke4 bu4 wen2 bu2 wen4
And why it is like the passengers never hear and never ask?

And why
Oh why
Oh why ai4 bu4 tie1 jin4 ling2 hun2
Oh why love never seems close to the soul?

I say why
I say why ai4 rang4 ni3 chong1 man3 nan2 yi2 wen4
I say why love let you full of questions and doubts.

And why
And why ai4 zong3 rang4 ni3 yi4 dian3 bu2 sheng4
And why love always let you become empty without anything left

Oh why why
Oh why why ai4 zhi3 xu1 jian4 li4 zai4 yi2 ge4 wen3
Oh why why love only has to establish on a kiss?

zen3 me5 neng2 zen3 me5 neng2 zen3 me5 neng2 zen3 me5 neng2
How could it? How could it? How could it? How could it?

zen3 me5 neng2
How could it?

Note 1: It is a historic story about 诸葛亮 Zhu1 Ge3 Liang4. San3 gu4 mao2 lu2 means paid three visit to the thatched cottage — and then it generally means to invite someone or hire someone so sincerely and eagerly; and in this song, it means to pursue the one you love so desperately. Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular.
